Tony Zale est un boxeur américain d'origine polonaise né le 29 mai 1913 et mort le 20 mars 1997.Anthony Florian Zaleski commença la boxe professionnelle sous le nom de Tony Zale en 1934. Malgré son statut professionnel, Tony Zale sera dans l'obligation financière de travailler dans les aciéries de Gary dans l'Indiana entre 1935 et 1936. Le 19 juillet 1940, il devient champion de la National Boxing Association dans la catégorie des poids moyens face à un autre américain, Al Hostak. Le 28 novembre 1941, Zale devient champion du monde des poids moyens face à Georgie Abrams à New York. En 1942, Zale est enrôlé dans la marine. Le 27 septembre 1946, Tony Zale libéré de son engagement militaire, reprend son parcours professionnel et défend son titre face à Rocky Graziano au Madison Square Garden de New York. Zale remporte le match par K.O à la 6e reprise.
